Learning Italian, Spanish and English with a mix of language and culture

La Dante in Cambridge is a European Cultural Association recognised by the international organisation La Società Dante Alighieri founded in 1889 with 500 offices worldwide. Our mission is to promote knowledge and enjoyment of Italian, Spanish and English language and culture for education, travel and business purposes. We are an independent, non-profit, non-political, non-religious, non-discriminatory organisation.

Our approach to teaching is to create a unique blend of learning language and culture and as research shows, is the quickest way to achieve a higher level of language proficiency. We offer first-rate teaching with mother language trained teachers, small classes, a varied and extensive array of social and cultural events.
We run a wide range of courses and workshops for all ages and abilities:

  • Adult courses which range from holiday intensive to advanced, GCSE and A-levels classes, summer school and business tuition.
  • Children classes we provide language tuition for the growing number of Italian and/or Spanish-speaking families. La Dante offers classes especially aimed at children who are bilingual in Italian and Spanish as well as classes for beginners from the age of 5+.

The academic programme of these specialist classes aims to improve proficiency in spoken and written Italian, Spanish or English. The resources used for study are authentic documents relating to these specific cultures, daily life and current affairs, similar to those used in Italian, Spanish or English schools. Grammar skills are also a priority. We aim to enhance students’ written and oral mastery of the language by studying and practising the various components of their grammar. La Dante is an official PLIDA examination centre for Italian exams, Trinity College Examination Centre for English, Cambridge Examination Preparation school and has a partnership with BECASARGO, Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport in Spain.
