Entrance Requirements for the Masters

Graduate work in Cambridge is intense and very intellectually demanding and so the University has high academic entry requirements. Detailed information about entrance requirements for the MPhil can be found on the Board of Graduate Studies website.  The Faculty requires all MEd students to meet these same requirements. You are normally expected to hold or to be about to achieve:

Applications are welcome from those with extensive experience working in educational contexts that have allowed them to develop a high level of knowledge and understanding of educational issues. Candidates not possessing the specified academic qualifications but able to make a strong personal case may be considered for exceptional entry. 

Competence in English

If your first language is not English you should take a language proficiency test to show you have the necessary command of the language to get the most out of the course. If you are made an offer and have not already met our English language requirements, one of the conditions of admission will be that you pass a test at the correct level. The IELTs (International English Language Testing System: www.ielts.org/ is the University's preferred test. The minimum requirement is an overall band score of 7.5 with not less than 7.0 in the individual elements.
