Psychology and Education (MEd)

What were your reasons for deciding to do the course?
My long term objective is to become an Educational Psychologist and so this course is a logical progression route and also includes the BPS graduate accreditation.

What have you gained from the course?
I am gaining a greater depth of knowledge and skills through the reading and essay writing, lectures and practical assignments (BPS). But perhaps more importantly, the interactions with my fellow students and staff have been most beneficial and enjoyable. I feel I am increasing in confidence and becoming more focussed in what I hope to achieve.

Did you find it difficult returning to studying later in your career?
In the year prior to commencing this course I completed a Post Grad Cert in Psychology so I was accustomed to the rigours of juggling the priorities of studying and working. It is hard work!

How did you manage studying while also working full time?

The course is demanding on time (as was expected) however assessment deadlines are made clear from the start and so study can be carefully planned and paced to meet the demands. My School have been supportive and they gave me a couple of days study leave when panic set in over the BPS exams. I find myself stealing brief snatches of time at school to study. Sacrifices have to be made and everything has to be strictly time managed.

What do you think of the facilities?
The New Faculty Building is not only a beautiful environment in which to study, the Library staff are second to none and the facilities such as the IT suites and study areas are excellent. The Library staff are very helpful and the library system (including email and internet access to my library account) is extremely efficient and straightforward.
