Perspectives on Inclusive and Special Education (MEd)

What were your reasons for deciding to do the course? I wanted to learn more about the job that I was doing, having some time away from work in order to reflect on my practice.

Why did you choose Cambridge?
I had already been involved the pathfinders project, which involved, amongst others, Lesley Dee, Richard Byers and Nidhi Singal. The course at Cambridge also offered lecture times that were convenient, and most importantly, a weekly timetable with other students, that is, NOT distance learning.

What have you gained from the course?
A deeper knowledge of working with people with learning difficulties of varying severity and profundity. As well as this I have gained an insight into a hitherto uncharted area, that of research, particularly educational research. This has been most enlightening.

How has studying affected your teaching? I have much greater confidence in how I am teaching

How did your school/college support you? The college where I work has given me a day every week in order to attend lectures and study. From talking to other people in other streams I realise this is very generous. The course is demanding but highly worthwhile

Is there anything further you would like to say to someone thinking of studying here? The tutors are very supportive and want you to do your very best. All the facilities and the library are first rate.
