MEd Cambridge Faculty of Education

Mathematics Education (MEd)

What were your reasons for deciding to do the course?
I had been teaching for a year and missed learning and being in an academic environment. I found my degree course in Maths and Education really interesting and wanted to extend it.

Why did you choose to do it at Cambridge?
I studied at Cambridge as an undergraduate and as a PGCE student and it was a natural progression. I knew the Maths Education staff from my undergraduate study and was looking forward to working with them again and receiving their supervision.

If you are a part time student and working, how did you manage studying while also working full time?
I have been lucky enough to be supported by my school. They have arranged my PPD time so that I can leave to attend weekly lectures at the Faculty. I am finding the workload of the course very manageable and weekly reading very interesting. The deadlines for assignment hand in are arranged to maximise the use of school holidays which makes it easier to manage.

Has your experience helped you to make improvements in school?
It has given me ideas to use on a personal basis in the classroom and I would like this to spread to my department in the future.
