Funding and Fees
Tuition Fees
PGCE trainees are required to pay variable or 'top-up' tuition fees. Tuition fees for 2012-13 will be £9000 for Home/EU students..
UK Home students are eligible for a student loan to cover the full costs of their tuition fees. Home students are also eligible to apply for a maintenance loan of up to £5,550 and a maintenance grant of up to £3,250, depending on their financial circumstances.
UK Home students must apply through Student Finance for the student loan to cover their fees and other financial support. Fee payments will be made to your College by the Student Loan Company. Application for a tuition fee loan should be made as early as possible after an offer of a PGCE place has been made and College membership confirmed. All Home students must apply for a financial assessment in order to confirm their Home student status even if no student loan application is to be made.
EU students are eligible to apply for a student loan to cover the full costs of their tuition fees. The Student Finance European Services Team will process applications for support from students from EU countries. Early application is recommended.
Students from overseas (non EU countries) are not usually eligible for tuition fee support, although those ordinarily resident in the UK for more than 3 years prior to starting the course should check with Student Finance to see if they qualify for Home student status. PGCE tuition fees for overseas students are in the region of £17,028 and we strongly recommend that overseas students contact their prospective college in order to discuss fee arrangements.
