Course Description

This 60 hour course has been designed collaboratively with Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. The course will include two Saturdays at The Globe, and a school based research task using Shakespeare in the classroom. It is a blended learning course, and is a combination of taught online materials and two Saturdays at the Globe, including a matinee production on the final Saturday.

You will be asked to explore practical classroom approaches to teaching Shakespeare plays (from those being used as set texts as well as partner plays from the tragedies, comedies or historical plays) using ideas from the Globe workshops and the taught course.

You will be asked to explore the impact of teaching strategies and resources through a small scale research project and will have one to one supervision to support your research.

Students undertaking this as a PCPS route will produce a 4,000 word portfolio of evidence (which will include the research project).

Accreditation

The course may be taken on a free-standing basis leading to the award of a Postgraduate Certificate of Professional Study (PCPS).

All participants will be expected to attend regularly (a minimum of 80%) and to complete a related assignment to the satisfaction of the course tutor.
