The Postgraduate Certificate in Educational Research (PCER)

The Postgraduate Certificate in Educational Research (PCER) provides candidates with some experience of educational research or who wish to be supported in developing skills in school-based enquiry with an opportunity to engage in systematic and sustained enquiry over a significant period of time (usually two terms or a year). The PCER can be undertaken by participants working with the Faculty (for example, in research and development projects or in professional development partnerships) or by individuals engaged in independent investigations. Participants work under supervision and write a report of 10,000 to 12,000 words. The PCER can be taken as a free-standing qualification for those participants wishing to engage in a discrete area of enquiry or used as one route to the completion of an Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Studies. Guidelines on preparing a proposal are available to download.
