About Newton

Newton is the online catalogue for the libraries of the University of Cambridge. Due to the large number of libraries in Cambridge, it is divided into several smaller catalogues, each holding information on a specific set of libraries. The Faculty of Education Library belongs to the Departments and Faculties A-E catalogue.

You are able to search Newton for material in 2 ways:

• Search:

This allows you to search one part of the record - we recommend that you only use this option to find journal titles held within Cambridge by selecting Journal Title from the list.

• Guided Search:

This allows you to combine search terms and to specify which part of the item's record to search (e.g. Author, Title). A Guided Search is the most effective way to retrieve a record as it increases the accuracy of results, as well as limiting the number of hits found. We recommend that you use this option to find books, especially if you already know the author and title.

Online help

If you are new to searching Newton then please take a moment to look at the On-line help which will guide you through a sample search using the Guided Search option.
