Profile

Rosemary Deaney has a background in teaching across a wide range of educational settings. Her current research focuses on teachers' early professional learning. She is working with Elaine Wilson investigating teacher identity and agency with particular emphasis on career changers during the transition through initial teacher preparation and into their first teaching posts.

A substantial part of her previous work centred around the use of information and communication technology (ICT) and supporting subject teachers developing their pedagogical use of these tools. She has been involved in several funded projects in this area, including the T-MEDIA video case-study project. This collaborative study with colleague Sara Hennessy and teacher practitioners in science, mathematics, English and history led to the production of a series of five interactive CD-ROMs designed to support teacher professional development.
