Profile

David Frost taught mostly in secondary schools before moving into higher education. He is currently a member of the School Improvement and Educational Leadership team in the Faculty of Education and a member of the management team for 'Leadership for Learning: the Cambridge Network'.

Since the mid-1980s, he has worked with teachers, schools and LEAs to provide frameworks of support for school improvement. He has considerable expertise in the field of continuing professional development. His research has focused on strategies for supporting teachers as 'change agents' and his current work addresses the question of how the quality of teaching and learning in schools can be improved through the development of organisational capacity and professional networking.

Current Research Projects

'Learning How to Learn in Classrooms Schools and Networks' a project within the ESRC funded Teaching and Learning Research Programme (TLRP)

The 'Impact Project' - a small scale research project leading to the development of materials/instruments to support the planning and evaluation of school-based development work

The 'Hertfordshire Learning Preferences Project' - an evaluation of an action research project in which 10 secondary schools collaborate to develop the use of learning preference profiling as the basis of dialogue between teachers and pupils

The 'Carpe Vitam Leadership for Learning Project' - an international research project focussing on learning-centred leadership in schools in a number of Scandinavian countries, Greece, Austria and the USACo-ordinator of the Hertfordshire M.Ed in Teaching and Learning. Supervision of M.Phil / PhD research Various Certificate of Further Professional Studies courses and projects in collaboration with Herts. LEA.
