Profile

Bob Lister taught classics in comprehensive schools from 1976 to 1991. In 1991 he became a lecturer in the Faculty of Education (where he is responsible for the Classics PGCE course) and the Faculty of Classics (where he teaches primary Latin language courses). As Director of the Cambridge School Classics Project (CSCP) from 1996 to 2003, he was responsible for the Cambridge Latin Course, the most commonly used Latin course in maintained secondary schools.

He is a specialist in Classics education with particular interest in the changing nature of the Classics curriculum, language teaching methodology, the role of ICT in the teaching of classical languages and oral literacy. Since 2000 he has been working with two professional storytellers to develop an oral retelling of Homer's Iliad and Odyssey for primary schools.
