Profile

Dee works as a postdoctoral research associate on Strand 4 (education strand) of the AHRC-funded project entitled Multilingualism: Empowering Individuals, Transforming Societies (MEITS), which focuses on the influence of multilingual identities on language learning. She joined the Strand 4 team, led by Dr Linda Fisher, in October 2017. She is currently also involved in ongoing research on Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) in multilingual primary and secondary education settings in the Netherlands.

Before taking up her post as a research associate, Dee spent a year (2016-17) as a Visiting Research Scholar at the College of Education, University of Florida, supervising MA students on projects on identity and academic language development in Two-Way Immersion education. From 2014 to 2016, Dee worked as a lecturer-researcher in Ecuador (South America), where her research focused on bilingual intercultural education for indigenous populations, and where she taught courses on bilingual education, research methodology and critical reading in English (for Spanish-speaking postgraduate students). She completed an ESRC-funded PhD in Education at the University of Cambridge in 2014, with a qualitative study exploring the impact of Dutch-English bilingual secondary education on students’ metalinguistic skill use in the learning of German as a third language.
