Profile
Bolormaa is a Research Associate for DFID funded Research Consortium on Educational Outcomes and Poverty (RECOUP) based at the Centre for Education and International Development. She is conducting research on aid to education and educational outcomes in collaboration with researchers from seven institutions based in the UK, Africa and South Asia (Ghana, Kenya, India and Pakistan). The research focuses on two main thematic issues:
The long-term impact on educational systems in partner countries of prioritising universal primary education by 2015 and other Millennium Development Goals (MDGs); the effectiveness of aid instruments (such as budget support, sector-wide approaches, global funds, FTI) in improving educational outcomes.
Previously she was a consultant - social economist for UNICEF Global Education Project to conduct a study into the economic impact of the project in the context of Central Asia and Republic of Kazakhstan. Her research has been concentrated in several areas: macroeconomic and structural reforms in developing and transitional economies; public management, including public financial management; labour markets and informal sector in Central Asia; education sector planning, policy and reforms; measuring human and social capital development.
