Why did you decide to become a teacher?

'I became interested in education when my children started pre-school/school (overseas). I started doing voluntary work in their schools at various levels - listening to reading, story telling, 'reading adventure' groups, science projects, PTAs, etc. And then I decided that I wanted to teach - properly!'

Why did you choose Cambridge to do your PGCE?

'We moved back to the UK almost 2 years ago, came to Cambridge and therefore the Faculty was the obvious place to come!'

Have you changed career in order to do your teacher training?

'I was an Environmental Health Officer for 10 years, in the UK. I then moved overseas for 13 years with my husband and daughter: We lived in Switzerland, Brazil and Australia, during which time my son was born, I was an 'expat wife', had a ceramics business, lectured in Food Hygiene to the food industry and worked as a Relocation Consultant for an international Relocation Company... not all at the same time!'

Any brief comments about the PGCE so far?

'...so many interesting people, different experiences. So much to think about; hard work but definitely worth it.'
