Modern Languages

Why did you decide to become a teacher?

'As a French national, I've always wanted to teach my language abroad. That's why after completing my English degree in the University of Nice, I decided to go to England.'

Why did you choose Cambridge to do your PGCE?

'...first of all for its world-wide reputation and also because Cambridge is the top University in the UK for the PGCE course.'

Have you changed career in order to do your teacher training?

'As my University has connections with the British Council I got my first job here and worked as a Foreign Language Assistant for two years. Since I liked teaching and because I liked the atmosphere in British schools, it seemed natural for me to apply for teacher training in England.'

Any brief comments about the PGCE so far?

'For anyone thinking about doing the PGCE course, I would say that it is definitely worth taking the opportunity to do it in Cambridge! Of course the demands and requirements are high, but you receive a huge amount of support from subject lecturers/tutors in the Faculty, PGCE Mentors in professional placement schools and also from fellow trainees.'
