Marisol Basilio

I qualified as a Psychologist at Universidad de Chile in 2007. At present I am undertaking my PhD at Universidad Autonóma de Madrid, where I am part of the research group Early Development, Semiotic and Culture, directed by Professor Cintia Rodríguez.

My recent research work (longitudinal study with infants from 11 to 15 months) concerns the development of pre-linguistic semiotic tools for self-regulation in the context of triadic interactions (Infant-Adult-Object). We analyse these interactions within a Vygotskyan perspective and a semiotic-pragmatic understanding of objects (see Rodríguez, C., 2007. Object Use, Communication and Signs. The Triadic Basis of Early Cognitive Development)

I am interested in the microgenetic processes within social interactions in which infants come to acquire and use complex knowledge about the world, communication and others. I am also interested in the implications that this might have for Early Years Education and Early Intervention in typically and atypically developing children
