Synaesthesia and Number Cognition

I am Jennifer Green, a PhD student working under the supervision of Professor Usha Goswami at the Centre for Neuroscience in Education, University of Cambridge. My doctoral project focuses on the effects of number-colour synaesthesia on number cognition. I am a synaesthete myself, and have had an interest in the phenomenon since I learned there was a name for it - and that I was not alone - 15 years ago.

Children with number-colour synaesthesia required for research study

We are currently seeking children with number-colour synaesthesia, between the ages of 7 and 12 years old, in the United States and the UK, to participate in a study on synaesthesia and number cognition.

If you and your child are interested in participating, the first step is for your child to complete the Synesthesia Battery1. If you register using the link below, we will automatically be notified when you have completed the Battery and will be able to review your results. We may then invite you to participate in further tests. All of the information you provide will be kept strictly private. Younger children may require adult assistance.

Click here to register and begin the Synesthesia Battery.  (Note: it is not necessary to complete the entire Battery in one sitting. You may leave at any time and you'll be able to pick up where you left off the next time you log in.)

If you have questions about the Battery or about participating in our research, send us an email at syn.study.participation@gmail.com.
