Reception

Facilities and Services

Buildings

The Donald McIntyre Building has 14 teaching rooms (see also Room Bookings), the Café, Faculty Library, Finance Office, IT Office, AV Support Service Office, Student Administration and Research Administration Offices.

The Mary Allan Building has 20 teaching rooms, 36 academic, research and administration staff offices and an Auditorium. Teaching rooms are used by Homerton College for conferences outside University terms. Homerton College Porters’ Lodge and Homerton College Library are also in the Mary Allan Building.

Trumpington House has one seminar room. There is 24-hour access for those who have offices in Trumpington House.

The Science Education Centre has three teaching rooms, one seminar room one computer room and one lecture theatre. There is 24-hour access for those who have offices in the Science Education Centre.

The Studio is used principally for Dance and Physical Education classes.

The Cavendish Building is part of Homerton College. Several members of academic staff who are also Fellows of Homerton College have offices in the Homerton College Cavendish Building. IT and services in this building are provided by Homerton College.

Access

Disabled Access

The Faculty of Education is committed to equal opportunities for all. It aims to ensure that no present or prospective student or member of staff receives less favourable treatment than another on grounds of any condition or status not directly affecting study or work. As part of our equal opportunities policy, the Faculty is committed to improving the support for students and staff with a disability.

The Donald McIntyre Building and the Mary Allan Building have full wheelchair access and lifts. For disabled access to Trumpington House, contact Reception [reception@educ.cam.ac.uk] in the first instance.

Disabled parking: There are five disabled parking spaces in the Donald McIntyre Building car park, one in the MAB car park, and one outside Trumpington House.

Entry and Exit

Entry to the Donald McIntyre Building is by University Card, with members of staff having keys to their individual offices. Staff and current students are entitled to have card access. Please Contact Reception to have your University Card activated. Staff office keys are issued at Reception, a refundable fee may be applicable.

To access the Mary Allan Building (MAB) out of hours or via certain entrances to the building you will need to have your University Card which would need to be registered by the Homerton College Porters Lodge (staff and PhD students only). Office keys are issued by the Homerton Porters Lodge once authorised by the Facilities & Supervisor.

Entry to Trumpington House is by University card. Keys for the front door (for night and weekend access) and individual offices are issued at Reception in DMB.

The Science Education Centre is opened/locked in the evening by the Homerton Porters. Office keys are issued at the Homerton Porters’ Lodge.

Visitors and those working on a casual basis in the Faculty should report to Reception in the Donald McIntyre Building.

Weekend access to the Donald McIntyre Building (9-5 Saturday and Sunday) is granted to staff and PhD students by the Facilities Supervisor who request it and who sign a Weekend Access Agreement Form and agree to the terms for security, safety and lone working. The Form is available in the Forms and Resources Section
