IT office requirements
Will the main function and emphasis of your web pages tend to be:
- An overview with a few pages of information, providing a repository for pdfs and publication references, aimed at a quite specific audience.
- A resource, possibly built by various institutions, for use by a reasonably broad range of individuals and interest groups.
- A dynamic site, with log-in, forum, inputting and uploading options, relying on a database and regularly used by a network of contributing individuals.
Have you designated web funds?
Options A and B can be provided in-house with neutral to moderate costs and timings.
Option C requires a more significant outlay, an out-of-house commercial arrangement and ongoing co-ordination and costs.
For any type of site you need to provide:
- A clear diagram doc (can be in digital or handwritten) showing the home page with menu (and any submenu) headings branching out from it.
- A name for the site eg caribbeanpoetry.educ.cam.ac.uk
- Succinct titles for menu, folder and page names.
- Completed content for a first stage of development; and a clear indication when any further content will be available.
- A suggested preference for predominant colour/s and, optionally, web addresses of sites you like the look of.
- Optional logo and diagrams and pdfs.
- Optional photos and/or videos with evidence of permission for publication.
- Names - one member of academic staff is required to take responsibility for the content of any Research Project section. The content update may be delegated to another individual, but the responsibility resides with the nominated academic.
- Keywords - a sentence describing your site; a paragraph list of keywords found in your content, each word separated by a comma and a space
