CamTools Support at the Faculty of Education

CamTools Guides, Video Tutorials and Frequently Asked Questions can be found on the CamTools support site hosted by CARET, direct link: https://camtools.cam.ac.uk/access/content/public/help.html

The Faculty employs an Instructional Designer, Anja Cessford (acc48@cam.ac.uk), to support staff and postgraduates in using CamTools for teaching, research, administration, survey, communication and storage activities.

Please contact Anja via the faculty CamTools support address camtools@educ.cam.ac.uk if you need help, if you would like a new CamTools site set up for you, or if would simply like to find out more about CamTools.

The Instructional Designer can work with you to

  • clarify your aims in using CamTools
  • show you some example sites
  • choose the tools which meet your needs
  • show you and your colleagues how to use CamTools
  • help you with any technical difficulties
  • advise you on improving your site
  • channel suggestions for new tools and improvements back to the developers

Beyond this, support to staff, students and users of the University is also provided by the Centre for Applied Research in Educational Technology (CARET), usually via email. The support address is camtools@caret.cam.ac.uk. However, queries from the Faculty of Education should be addressed to Anja Cessford and the Faculty CamTools Team (camtools@educ.cam.ac.uk) in the first instance.

Additional computing support

If you need more help with using computers, the University Computing Service runs free courses on topics covering everything from first using a computer and the Internet to advanced programming skills. Students who are new to using computers are recommended to attend Web Browsing and Searching Techniques and either Windows: Getting the basics right or Macintosh: Getting to grips with Mac OS X, depending on whether you will be using a Windows or a Mac computer (contact Faculty or college IT staff for more information about this).
