What kind of student studies Education?
The Education Tripos is ideally suited for students who have a broad range of interests, who wish to study the humanities through Education while at the same time furthering their passion in a particular subject.
This is a benefit if you:
- are passionate about Education, whether or not you wish to go on to teach.
- wish to work in a national or international policy context, particularly on issues of Education and Social Justice.
- wish to bring together a talent in another subject such as Drama or Maths with a knowledge of teaching and learning.
- wish to engage both with a subject and a broad-based social science.
- have a strong interest in both the Sciences and the Arts, and don't have three science A-levels as the majority of those studying Natural Sciences do.
Is there anything I can read?
While we get regular requests for a preliminary reading list, we feel that if we offered a set list it would limit the resources accessed by potential students. The reading lists used by our current students, might give you a useful starting point, but we suggest that you keep up to date with recent educational developments that are in the news, and that you do independent research, reading books and articles on those areas that interest you.
