Commonwealth Intercultural Arts Network

Background

Established in March 2013, the Commonwealth Creativities in Intercultural Arts Network (CIAN), sponsored by the Centre for Commonwealth Education (CCE), aims to promote and enable the advancement of 21st century intercultural arts research and practice through the development of a supportive network which explores the reframing of intercultural creativities in education.

The Commonwealth Creativities in Intercultural Arts Network (CIAN) Fellows discussions will both acknowledge and contribute to debates in intercultural arts studies at large and also map out areas that are seen as peculiar to Indigenous and non-Indigenous intercultural arts practices.

The CIAN Visiting Fellows include Elizabeth MacKinlay (Specialist in Indigenous and Arts Education, Faculty of Education, University of Queensland),  Brydie-Leigh Bartleet (Intercultural arts researcher and practitioner, Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University), Samuel Curkpatrick (contributor to the Australian Arts Orchestra and intercultural researcher, Australian National University), Jean Penny (Intercultural performing artist, researcher and educator, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Malaysia), Andrew Blackburn (Intercultural performing artist, researcher and educator, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Malaysia) and Alisa Duff (Head of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Program at the National Museum of Australia).
