Profile

Jo is an experienced classroom teacher who has held a number of senior leadership positions, including phase leader, creativity lead, PE / Maths and Science subject leader. Jo was also a Specialist Leader of Education (SLE) supporting beginning teachers and early career teachers (ECTs).

Jo works on the Primary PGCE course and teaches Professional Studies, as well as supporting student teachers during the course and with their assignments. Prior to this, Jo taught Primary Science. 

Jo works on another Initial Teacher Education course, having held a number of different roles. Currently she supports student teachers on the course and makes assessments of their progress. Before this Jo lead ITE in Bury St Edmunds organising school placements, training mentors and teaching the student teachers. She has also supported the students with their wellbeing, running training to support them to manage their workload and provide 1:1 support where needed. 

Jo is currently completing a MPhil in Primary Education, researching beginning teachers’ perspectives of the challenges they face as they join the profession.

Jo works for a local primary school as a supply teacher.
