Profile

Chris Williams is a Link Lecturer for the Secondary PGCE course. Chris began her career in North Yorkshire before moving to Cambridge in 1982. Until recently a Deputy Head in a local Village College, Chris has also had experience as a Head of Year and a Faculty Head.

As a Deputy, some of her main areas of responsibility included ITE, CPD, PSHCE, assessment, recording and reporting. Further areas of interest included student voice and the whole area of health promotion. As a passionate advocate of arts education, Chris was instrumental in helping the Arts Faculty gain the coveted Artsmark Gold award.

During her career as an English teacher, Chris was a member of both the local and national NATE committees reflecting her strong commitment to quality, on-going professional development. Throughout her time as a Deputy Head, Chris still saw herself primarily as a teacher of English. She retained her enthusiasm for her subject throughout and despite resisting the pressures to 'teach to the test', still managed to secure excellent results!

Chris has been associated with the Cambridge Secondary PGCE course for 20 years: as a mentor, as a Professional Tutor and, latterly, as a Link Lecturer. She has served on the English Subject Mentor Panel and the Partnership Standing Committee.
