In the beginning was a group of English teachers who wanted the opportunity to talk about, research and share findings on English teaching. The group ( a mere seven people originally) found the chance to talk about English and ideas about English teaching exhilarating and wanted to carry on doing this. It was therefore with great good fortune (and timing) that the Best Practice Research Scholarships (BPRS) emerged at that point and enable the group to grow to twenty two English and English drama teachers all researching and sharing practice.
This website represents a selection of these teachers' work, and also gives an account of the excellent day conference we held as a marking point for the completion of the BPRS work.
We are about to begin on stage two - no longer funded by Government but certainly powered by the teachers who have remained committed to (and energised by) the ownership of English teaching brought about by researching their own practice.
We hope you enjoy reading about us and would welcome you contacting us about our work.
