Profile
Faye Dorcas Yung began her academic pursuit in children’s literature from her MPhil at the University of Cambridge. She is primarily interested in literary criticism and the cultural aspects of children’s fiction and picturebook. For her PhD, she is exploring issues of cultural authenticity in the representations of Chinese and Japanese cultures in children’s fiction and picturebook published in Anglophone countries.
Prior to her studies at Cambridge, she was trained and served as an ESL teacher at secondary school and college level in Hong Kong. Her interest in children’s literature is rooted in her teaching practice, in which she is committed to motivate students’ learning by engaging them in quality literature.
