Profile

Veronica Hanke was a primary school teacher with a special interest in literacy learning in the Early Years. As a teacher researcher in the Teacher’s Understanding of Literacy in Primary Schools project she devised an innovative visual methodology for interviewing young children about their responses to and understandings of literacy learning in school. She has gone on to develop this methodology, ‘co-authored drawing’, for a MA and currently in a PhD study. Through this work she has become interested in the possibilities and difficulties of teaching ‘guided reading’ in English primary schools.

Although she is no longer a classroom teacher she organises a vibrant Film Club in a local primary school.
