Rodings Primary School

Rodings Primary School

Rodings Primary School is a medium sized school with 225 pupils. The school is set in the rural village of Leaden Roding, but also serves many of the surrounding small villages. Rodings is part of a consortium of schools within our local area which have joined together to take part in the SUPER partnership. The joint approach will allow us to embark on this exciting new venture as a collective group so that we are able to carry out research across all eight primary schools, as well as share and make use of each of the individual school’s assets and specialist areas. Rodings welcomes this exciting new project, and is looking forward to working collaboratively; both with other schools, as well as with the Faculty of Education.

Rodings is already a partnership school with the Faculty of Education, and regularly welcomes PGCE trainees throughout the year. In recent years Rodings has supported Masters level research, which has included research around intervention programmes used to support Literacy difficulties, as well as a study into the impact of ability grouping on progress and self-esteem in Year 1. Additional research around the importance of group work in mathematics has also been carried out at Rodings, which linked us to schools in Hong Kong. Our school is currently taking part in the Build Project linked with the University, which is looking at perspectives on inclusion and diversity in the classroom, with a view to support teachers and trainee teachers with the published results.

Rodings is a proud forest school, and also a model school for the Ruth Miskin Read, Write, Inc. Literacy programme.
