Laptops Loan
The IT Office has a small supply of Loan Laptops that may be borrowed for short periods by Research and Teaching Staff and Research Students. In some cases students are able to also loan laptops, please ask your supervisor to contact the IT Office.
Loan Duration
The Laptops may be borrowed from the IT Office for a period of 1 week. In exception circumstances longer term loans can be facilitated.
Saving Files
Any files can be saved to the laptop, however it is the user is responsible for saving and backing up all work to an external drive or online cloud storage.
Laptop Loan Declaration
Each time you borrow a laptop, you will be asked to agree to the following:- I will return the laptop by the due date to the IT Office, and if necessary report any damage to the IT Team
- I understand that this laptop is for my personal use only, and I will not borrow it on behalf of a friend or colleague, or use it for work which is not educational or personal in nature.
- I will ensure that all files are saves to a removable memory device/cloud on return of the loan and understand that any files saved elsewhere on the laptop will be erased automatically when the laptop is returned.
- I understand that no third party software can be downloaded or installed onto this laptop.
- The Faculty of Education is not responsible for any damage to the borrower's data storage device(s), loss of data caused by software, hardware, battery failure or computer viruses.
- I understand that if the laptop is lost, stolen or damaged in my care, I am liable to pay replacement costs in the region of £700.
External storage - USB keys, external hard drives
Short term loan of such things as USB Memory keys and External Hard Drives may also be possible. In both cases they are also available for purchase, USB keys are available to purchase for £5, Hard-Drives for £55 - Please check with the IT Office for stock levels and potential pricing changes.
AV Equipment - from the AV Support Service
The Faculty also has a range of audio recorders, video and still cameras which may loaned from the AV Support Service, who are based in room GS6, Donald McIntyre Building.
