Career Options

The Faculty seeks to ensure that each you are enabled to find the most appropriate and fulfilling pathway through the Education Tripos and making your way towards the goals and future destinations that you have set. Each year Education Tripos students excel in their studies and progress to careers in educational research, educational psychology, educational publishing, teaching, educational policy-making as well as careers associated with their specialist studies. For example, you might find employment in a wide range of occupations in the arts, the theatre, the media, museum work, educational journalism, civil service careers, in government administration, business and management and in international development agencies and charities working in the UK and abroad.
The Education Tripos will provide you with a variety of important employment skills that can be used in a range of careers. The Transferable Skills Statement gives details of the following skills that Education Tripos graduates can expect to develop over the course of the degree:
- Intellectual skills (e.g. critical, analytical, synthesising and problem-solving skills);
- Communication skills (written and oral);
- Organisational skills (e.g. working independently, taking initiative, time-management);
- Interpersonal skills (e.g. the ability to work with or motivate others, flexibility/adaptability);
- Research and Investigative skills;
- Numeracy – an ability to work with numerical data;
- Computer Literacy.
