Course Overview
The Education Tripos offers you the opportunity to study for a degree that combines Education with another subject you are passionate about.
You will:
- Gain an understanding of education and the contexts in which it takes place, by drawing on a wide range of intellectual resources, theoretical perspectives and academic disciplines.
- Study the foundation disciplines of education - history, philosophy, psychology and sociology - and their contribution to our understanding of educational policy and the process and practice of education.
- Engage with fundamental questions concerning the aims and values of education and its relationship to society.
- Study Education with a global perspective.
- Learn to conduct research and enquiry within the field of education thus enabling you to pursue postgraduate study in education.
- Have the opportunity to study another academic subject alongside education and to develop enjoyment and rigour in academic enquiry within this field.
- Prepare yourself to go into to teaching – if you should wish – with the opportunity of going straight on to a PGCE.
