Conference Overview

This is a major event of the Cambridge China Education Forum (CCEF), established in 2018 by graduate students at the University of Cambridge, supported by leading scholars in The Cambridge China Education Forum (CCEF) was established in 2018 and is an academic exchange platform guided by the Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge.

We are dedicated to building a bridge for dialogue and communication between Chinese education and the global community, sharing cutting-edge research and practice in the field of education to promote educational exchange and cooperation between China and other countries. The forum facilitates discussions and support for Chinese education among education policymakers, researchers, practitioners, and people from all walks of society through keynote speeches, sub-forums, and other formats.

This forum is planned to be held offline in July 2024. We anticipate approximately 60 guest speakers and 2000 to 3000 registered participants, including government policymakers, school leaders, educational researchers, and front-line teachers from China, the UK, and around the world.

Our goal is to engage in meaningful dialogue about the challenges and opportunities in education under the contexts of internationalization, diversification, and digitalisation. CCEF 2024 will feature two keynote forums; two round-table forums; four main sub-forums; sixteen youth scholar forums; two poster sessions, and several pre-forum discussions.


Forum Information

Keynote Speech 1 - Frontiers in Education

We have the honor of hosting top industry experts, led by Professor Rupert Wegerif, Director of the Future Research Laboratory in the Education Department at the University of Cambridge and a seasoned expert in educational technology.

This forum will share the latest research achievements and trends in the field of education. The forum does not set a specific theme, aiming to explore various possibilities and innovations in the new developments of education from a broader perspective, both domestically and internationally. This macro-level introduction seeks to build a diversified platform to foster in-depth exchanges and collaborations among scholars, researchers, and practitioners, collectively advancing the discipline of education.

Keynote Speech 2: The Cultivation of Creativity

Featuring another industry luminary, the forum is led by Professor Trevor Robbins, former Head of the Psychology Department at the University of Cambridge and a distinguished figure in neuroscience and psychology. This keynote will explore the relationship between education and the cultivation of creativity from a multi-dimensional and interdisciplinary perspective.

It aims to discover how to effectively inspire and foster creativity during the educational process. This session focuses not only on theoretical exploration but also on practical case studies and experience sharing. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and the merging of ideas, we aspire to pave new pathways for the nurturing of education and creativity, building towards an innovative and diverse educational future.


Panel Introduction

Panel 1: Digital Transformation in Education Driven

Inviting domestic and international experts for critical and rational discussions on the application of technology in educational settings, offering suggestions and advice for technology to better serve education.

Panel 2: Mental Health, Well-being and Education

Aimed at sharing the latest findings and thoughts from researchers and practitioners of different cultural backgrounds, discussing how to collectively improve the well-being of students and teachers.

Panel 3:  Practice in Art Education

Focusing on the evolving nature of art education, emphasizing the importance of creativity and artistic expression in a broader educational context. It aims to bring together practitioners, educators, and researchers to share insights, challenges, and success stories in art education, and discuss making art education more influential and accessible for students of all ages.

Panel 4: Language, Multilingualism, and Education

Acknowledging the increasingly diverse linguistic backgrounds in education, exploring how this diversity affects learning and teaching processes, and promoting innovative strategies for embracing a multilingual environment and enhancing learning outcomes.


Roundtable Discussion 1: Face to Face with Journal Editors

We will invite editors from renowned journals for a roundtable discussion to answer questions directly from participants. This event provides a valuable opportunity for participants to gain first-hand experience and tips on publishing and academic writing directly from leading editors. The editors will share their experiences in the academic publishing world, including but not limited to how to choose the right journal, how to prepare and submit manuscripts, how to deal with peer reviewer feedback, and how to communicate research findings more effectively through academic writing.

Roundtable Discussion 2: School Leadership Discussion

This roundtable focuses on school leadership and gathers leaders and educators from top primary and secondary schools in China and the UK. The goal is to exchange experiences on the challenges and opportunities faced by leaders of educational institutions both domestically and abroad, and to discuss ways to promote school development and improve educational quality. The format includes brief introductions of each school (five minutes), in-depth discussions on several core issues, and a Q&A session with the audience.


Early-Career Scholar Forum

Providing a platform for young researchers to share their academic experiences, facilitating exchange and collaboration among young scholars to promote the development of the educational field.

The Themes of the Early-Career Researcher Forum

Within the context of this year's forum theme, the Early-Career Researcher Forum will focus on the following 16 research topics. Participants are encouraged to choose the two topics that best align with their research interests and the specific content of their abstracts.
