This project examines current pedagogical practices and the role of school leadership in four primary schools in Manzese Ward in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania1. The focus of this research and development initiative is to work in collaboration with schools to reflect on current teaching practice, to identify and solve teachers' professional problems and challenges and to devise ways to improve teaching, learning, and leading throughout the school. Through the consolidation and dissemination of the findings from the PAL initiative, we aim to share our findings of 'best practice' and 'lessons learned' with other key educational stakeholders, to facilitate their application in schools throughout Tanzania.
