Introduction to THRiVE
THRiVE is an interdisciplinary research group at the University of Cambridge Faculty of Education exploring how education can promote positive environments and wider societal transformations that enable everyone, especially young people, to thrive.
Our research themes:
- Peace education
- Wellbeing and inclusion
- Social and educational justice
- Gender, disability, race & colonialism
- Global youth cultures
Our Approach
Launched in 2025, THRiVE uses a wide range of research methods — from surveys and interviews to creative approaches such as arts, storytelling, and visual mapping. Our work is both interdisciplinary and collaborative, bringing together different perspectives to tackle complex challenges.
We focus on how harm and inequality are created within institutions and societies, and explore new ways of thinking and acting that support positive change. Central to our approach is working alongside and amplifying the voices of minoritised communities, so their experiences can shape solutions to social and educational inequalities.
