Apply to Cambridge

To find out more about course entry requirements, funding and what we are looking for, please use the right hand menu. If you believe that you have the right qualifications and are the type of trainee we are looking for, we welcome your application.

The application procedure is in two parts:

1. GTTR application

Applications must be made online through the Graduate Teacher Training Registry (GTTR)

All the help you need is on the GTTR website, our own website and in the PGCE prospectus. As part of the process, you pay for the application online using a credit card or debit card. You should also be aware that you will need to provide details of your referee (who must be able to supply a reference electronically). Also, you will be responsible for sending the completed application online to GTTR. Further advice and information about the process is available at www.gttr.ac.uk

Candidates are selected for interview based on the information provided on the GTTR application form.

2. College membership application

College membership is a requirement for all PGCE students and arrangements for college membership are made by the Faculty of Education's PGCE Admissions Office.

If invited for interview you will be sent the College application form on which you are required to identify two College choices. You may also nominate one College to which your application should not be sent under any circumstances and you may indicate on the form types of College to which your application should not be sent (e.g. single sex or graduate-only).

Your application for College membership is not considered until you have officially been offered a place on the PGCE course. The College application form is then circulated to your chosen Colleges in the order of preference you have indicated. If neither of your College choices offer you admission or you did not select a College, your application will automatically be forwarded to an appropriate College chosen by the Faculty.

We will let you know when you receive an offer of membership. The College will also write to you.

Closing Date

The closing date for early years & primary PGCE applications to the GTTR is 1st December 2007.

Competition for places is extremely high so early application is recommended to avoid disappointment.

Applications may be considered after that date if places are still available on the course (see our PGCE vacancies page for information about current vacancies).

Applications for the KS2/3 and secondary courses are accepted throughout the academic year until the courses are full (again, see our PGCE vacancies page for information about current vacancies). You are advised to make an early application to avoid disappointment should a course be filled early in the academic year.
