AVSS have the technology to transfer media from legacy video formats to DVD, convert tape or discs to digital files and record off-air television and radio broadcasts

Media Transfer

The AV team can transfer video footage from DVD, Mini DV and VHS onto DVD from £2.00 per disk. (Prices are subject to change).

Media Conversion (Transcoding)

We can convert video footage and audio into the following digital file formats*:

*This is not a comprehensive list so please consult us for advice on any media format and the appropriate conversion method.**Seven days notice required for vinyl records.

Please note that we are unable to duplicate copyrighted material unless permission is obtained from the copyright holder.

Off Air Recording - Television and Radio

The AVS Service has the technology to record UK television and radio stations within the parameters of the ERA license for Recording Broadcasts for Educational Use.

The ERA Licence allows the Faculty to:

• use on-demand services such as BBC iPlayer, 4 on Demand, 5 on Demand and Clic
• copy broadcast material to use as part of a lesson
• retain broadcast material
• build libraries with valuable resources to be used when teaching.
