The REAL Centre's interdisciplinary team, consisting of development studies experts, educationalists, economists, sociologists and statisticians, is pioneering transformative research into tackling barriers to education, such as poverty, gender, location and disability. It is also working to promote education as an engine for inclusive growth and sustainable development.

In total, there are around 15 core faculty members actively involved in REAL Centre research, including early career researchers (research assistants and associates), lecturers, senior lecturers, readers and professors. In addition, approximately 25 MPhil students on the Education,Globalisation and International Development route and at least 20 PhD students are actively engaged in Centre activities. We also expect around 15 undergraduate students on the new Education, Policy and International Development track.
